Whole House Water Filtration Systems in Palm Coast, FL
Aquasana systems installed with a bypass and a sediment pre-filter, so filter changes take five minutes. I’ve installed them from the Hammock to Bunnell — including two houses for the same family.

What our customers say
Read reviews from 40+ Palm Coast and Flagler County homeowners who trust Christian for water heaters, repairs, filtration and repipes.
Christian arrived in a timely manner and evaluated the problem that I had. He offered his solution, that I agreed with, and he fixed it on the spot. You can’t ask for more than that!
Christian has done a few plumbing jobs for me. The last job was replacing the garbage disposal. His crew came out today to fix a loud clanking noise. There was a screw in a “pocket” that I could not feel when I checked for something stuck. No charge! Christian’s other plumbing jobs were done quickly and professionally.
We contacted Christian about a broken line from our water heater. He sent Paul out right away to assess the situation. Paul arrived the next morning to install the new water heater. He was awesome; explained everything he was doing, worked efficiently, cleaned up the entire area and made sure that the job was done right.
Chris and his helper were a pleasure to deal with. Prompt and did outstanding work. His prices were reasonable. He sent an itemized invoice describing the work and price before they came out. There were no surprises. I had him repair a shower faucet, outside faucets and toilet. He also installed a garbage disposal.
Christian at Florida Plumbing & Inspection is fantastic! He is a professional that knows what he is doing. He has done several projects for us. He is always on time, knowledgeable, professional, neat, dependable and very pleasant. He installed a water filtration system at two of our homes, as well as other plumbing work.
Contacted Christian regarding a water heater upgrade/repair required by an insurance company. He responded immediately and the work was performed the very next day, complete with photos of the completed work. Awesome service. Highly recommend Florida Plumbing & Inspection for all your plumbing needs.
What a relief it is to find honest and capable professionals for your home. Alex and Christian installed a new whole house water system, and also installed release valves in our tankless water heater (which our builder plumber had neglected to do).
Christian just installed a new Rheem heat pump water heater. He is a real gentleman and master plumber. Third time I have hired him. He has done a excellent job. I highly recommend him.

Does Palm Coast have hard water?
Yes. Palm Coast’s municipal water tests around 10–12 grains per gallon, which the USGS classifies as “hard” to “very hard,” and it is disinfected with chloramine — that’s the taste and smell people notice. West of I-95, in Bunnell and Flagler Estates, most homes are on wells with iron, sulfur odor and sediment instead.
What fixes it depends on which problem you have. A whole-house carbon filter removes the chlorine and chloramine taste and odor at every tap. A salt-free conditioner reduces scale on fixtures and inside the water heater without a brine discharge. A traditional salt softener is the only thing that fully removes hardness. I install Aquasana Rhino whole-house systems (1,000,000-gallon filter media) with a 20-inch sediment pre-filter, unions and a bypass valve, mounted on a board in the garage or on an exterior wall. Installation takes about half a day and runs $1,900–$2,900 installed.
Filter, conditioner or softener
| System | Fixes | Doesn’t fix | Maintenance | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Whole-house carbon filter (Aquasana Rhino) | Chlorine/chloramine taste and smell, sediment | Hardness scale | Pre-filter every 2–3 months; tank every 6–10 years | Every Palm Coast city-water home |
| Salt-free conditioner (add-on) | Scale on fixtures, glass and the water heater | Doesn’t remove minerals | None | Homes that want scale control without salt |
| Salt water softener | Full hardness removal, soft feel | Taste and odor | Salt every 4–6 weeks | Very hard water, spotted glass, heavy scale |
| Sediment / iron pre-filter | Sand, rust, sulfur odor on wells | Bacteria (needs UV) | Cartridge every 1–3 months | Bunnell and Flagler Estates well homes |
| Under-sink reverse osmosis | Drinking water: fluoride, lead, TDS | Whole house | Filters yearly | Kitchen tap only |
Filtration work I do
I’m a plumber, not a water-treatment dealer, so I’m not tied to one system or a lease. I install what fixes your water and I’m the one who comes back for the filter changes.
Aquasana whole-house carbon filter
The Rhino system: sediment pre-filter, copper-zinc and carbon tank. Removes chlorine and chloramine for every shower and tap. The system in the reviews below.
Salt-free conditioner add-on
Bolts onto the Aquasana line to stop scale on faucets, glass doors and inside the water heater, with no brine, no salt bags and no drain line.
Well-water sediment and iron pre-filters
For Bunnell and Flagler Estates wells: a spin-down or cartridge sediment filter ahead of the main unit, plus iron or sulfur treatment when the water needs it.
Under-sink reverse osmosis
A dedicated drinking-water tap at the kitchen sink for the last few things a whole-house filter doesn’t remove.
Bypass valve, unions and a gauge
Every install gets a three-valve bypass and unions, so a filter change or a service call never means shutting off the house.
Filter changes and service
Pre-filter cartridges every two to three months. Text me and I’ll swap it, or I’ll show you how — it takes five minutes once it’s plumbed right.

What's in Palm Coast water, and what isn't
The city draws from the Floridan aquifer and treats it with lime softening and chloramine. The result is safe, hard, and smells of chlorine in the shower. The hardness is what leaves the white crust on your shower door and the sediment in the bottom of your water heater; the chloramine is what dries out skin and fades towels.
- City water (Palm Coast, Flagler Beach, the Hammock): whole-house carbon filter first, salt-free conditioner second. A salt softener only if you're on the very hard end.
- Well water (Bunnell, Flagler Estates, west Flagler): sediment pre-filter, then iron or sulfur treatment, then carbon. I test before recommending.
- Outdoor installs on the barrier island get UV-rated housings and a cover — salt air is hard on plastic.

Filtration questions
Yes — around 10–12 grains per gallon from the city's annual water quality report, which is hard to very hard. It's also treated with chloramine, which is the chlorine smell in your shower.
If your complaints are taste, smell, dry skin and faded towels, a whole-house carbon filter. If it's white scale on glass and fixtures, add a salt-free conditioner or, for very hard water, a salt softener. I test your water first so you don't buy both.
It's different. A conditioner keeps hardness minerals from sticking, so scale drops dramatically, but the water still tests hard. A softener removes the minerals entirely and gives the slippery soft-water feel, at the cost of salt and a drain line. Most Palm Coast homes are happy with filter plus conditioner.
Not noticeably when it's sized right and the pre-filter is changed on schedule. A clogged pre-filter is the number-one cause of pressure complaints, which is why I plumb it with a bypass and a gauge.
The sediment pre-filter every two to three months (more on a well). The Aquasana main tank lasts roughly six to ten years depending on the model. I'll text you a reminder.
Yes. Aquasana, Pelican, Culligan, Kinetico — if it's plumbed in, I can change filters, add a bypass, or replace it.
Yes — that's the main job of the carbon tank. Palm Coast treats its water with chloramine, which is harder to strip than plain chlorine, so I spec a catalytic carbon media rather than standard carbon. You'll notice it first in the shower: no pool smell, and your skin stops feeling tight.
On the main line where it enters the house — usually the garage wall by the water heater, or outside by the meter on a slab home. A filter-plus-conditioner setup takes about 3 feet of wall and stands roughly 5 feet tall. I add a bypass so you can isolate it for service without shutting off the house.
Half a day for a standard Aquasana or salt-free system, about a full day if I'm adding a softener with a drain line or running new copper to reach the main. Water is off for one to two hours in the middle of the job, and I'll text you before I shut it down.
A fridge filter only treats the water you drink from that door. A whole-house system treats every tap, the shower, the washing machine, the dishwasher and — importantly — the water heater, where sediment and scale do the most expensive damage. Most of my customers say the shower is the difference they notice first.
